finding flex-plate...

What year? not that it probably matters but I want to make sure.

Picking a random year and looking in my parts catalog, for a 1997 you'll need part number 5211 8551 (PLATE, DRIVE PLATE) along with likely J321 4094 (PLATE, DRIVE PLATE BACKING) and six of J315 1407 (BOLT, HEX HEAD, 1/2-20x0.56") and four of 3420 2497 (BOLT, HEX HEAD, M10x1.50x14, TC mounting bolts.)

EDIT: mopardiscountparts.com has the plate for $90. The other MOPAR retailers will probably have around the same price.

EDIT2: for 91-92 you want part number 5300 6324 instead; for 93-95 you want 5211 7761, for 96-01 you want 5211 8551.

For 87-90, Napa has one. After that, they don't for whatever reason. The year does matter since the crank sensor reads the holes around the outside of the plate to determine crank position. I dunno if the plate from OBDII is the same as the OBDI, but Renix-era is definitely not compatible with any others. It looks like it will be a dealer/junkyard part unless you have an 87-90.

I have a good one for a renix

94' Jeep Cherokee Sport, 4.0l, 4x4, Automatic...

I have one off the 94 XJ motor I just pulled out and sitting on my garage floor. The new motor I put in had one on it already so I didnt change them. PM me if you are interested.
