okay so, 12" lift... what/ how do i measure what size shock i will need?

12" of lift...are you kidding??? Put the XJ on a twisty situation (ramps, or ??) to flex it. Then measure max stuff vs. max extension. Will give you the short/long of the shock travel.

I just hope you realize how much you are going to get flamed for...
1) Asking a question that has been covered multiple times and not searching.
2) Having 12" of lift on a forum where people splooge over low COG.
Simple: Flex it out and measure the compressed side and the extended side.

i wonder how well your suspension works when you design a 12' lift, but shock place/fitment is just too dificult...

Can you give a measurment of the static ride height and I might be able to come up with something.
I normally like 40 up and 60 down on the travel.
