Trans problem from grabbing reverse by accident

My friends husband was driving and hit the shifter into reverse while driving! Trans is now knocking at idle but seems to go away when driving. What got fragged from such a dumb move??

If the noise sounds like its in the bellhousing, it may be a cracked flexplate.
