HELP!!!! grinding noise in transfercase

Guys,

When I am driving at 35+ MPH, when i let off the gas i hear this horrible grinding sound from (I believe) the transfercase

What could it be, it soulds like the chain, is there an adjustment? it is a np231 with SYE installed?

what should i do?????

There is no adjustment on the chain. If you have stretched it out you need to replace it asap. Waiting will yield a hole in the bottom of your tcase and dump all your oil, besides turning your case into junk.

You need to pull the case, open it up and inspect it. If you haven't run it too long, all you will need to do is clean everything in the case, replace the chain and bolt it back together.
