Rear Drive Shaft help!

i have a 99 xj limited 4.0L , i have 3" lift 242j T-case front & rear Double Cardan Drive shafts slip yolk elim kit 1" Tcase Drop kit,
my problem is that i have play in my rear drive shaft it moves up and down and side to side about 1/4 - 3/8 " , its making a terrible clunking sound from 3 - 30 mph's , went to the local 4x4 shop they were out of stock and their distributor is on the back order, the only other place that carries the part is napa and they dont have it either the part number is 617, my question is if i take the front drive shaft and put it in the rear until my part arrives, is that safe?

part? sounds like its time to replace the U-joints.

Sure sounds like u joints

i replaced all the u joint all 8 of them 3 on the rear shaft 3 on the front, and 2 front axle, also replaced the ball joints and didnt solve the problem

what part did you try to buy?

Sounds like the T-case needs a rebuild!

No, not if you have a Hack-n-tap with the flange style. Sounds like either the output shaft bearing is gone on the T-case or you have a worn out center ball on the double cardan

fixed the problem it was the centering ball between the 2 u joints, thnx for all the help though
