is it possible. i need an alt for my renix and my buddy has one for a HO. but i have been told the plugs are different?

I'm pretty sure it won't work. The Renix has an internal voltage regulator while the HO uses the ECU.

The Renix alt is just a GM alternator, should be pretty cheap at the salvage yard.

high-output is for amperage not voltage
any GM alternator that will fit ought to work, look for cars with lots of amenities (heated mirrors and seats, etc)

check out the Pontiac transport. They are like 160 amps or so. That is what I put into my 85 Monte Carlo SS when I had her. It was a pretty straight foward swap.
