DOUBLE MAIN LEAF??

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of lift/ride I could expect with from just doubing up my main leaf with another cherokee leaf with the eyes cut off or it.

IIRC, The main leaf will give you 1" of lift. Main + 2nd, about 2" lift. Fully doubling the XJ pack will give about 3".
The ride is supposed to be better than any other bastard pack by miles. If you do a good job with leaf liners, slip-coat spring paint and all that... it should be damned good.

My BIL added an entire stock spring pack to his MJ and it still rides nice. Alot nicer than I thought it would. Got a little more lift then he was wanting, but decide to see if it will sag a bit over time.

X2, did just the main on a friends XJ last year and got right around 1".
He had always been scared to lift it at all, due to a fear of loss in ride quality. When he finally did it, he commented the next week on "how it never rode this well!", and "why didn't I do this sooner?"

[FONT=&quot]I run a XJ main leaf, with the eyes cut off, as second leaf. The remaining four
are cut so they progressively get shorter.
After brushing and sanding the leaves clean of rust, they were painted with epoxy paint, and then coated with CRC Dry Moly Lube.

They were assembled with full-length plastic liners. The new pack produces about 2" of lift, with 1/2" of that produced by the added thickness of the liners.
The ride is nice and smooth, empty or loaded. I do notice a bit more sway due to the lack of friction between the leaves. The plastic liners are a great way to go.
2 1/2" lipped lining is available from Eaton Spring.

My 1990 DD has a Quadratec HD leaf pack w/eyes cut off mated to the stock and sagging main leaf. It rides better than I would have expected and handles great. i netted around an 1" of lift.

I'm getting ready to do this to my 94, in fact the spring packs are on order.

If your going to cut the eyes off, do it like this:

flip it 180 and you will have a military wrap.

Thanks alot guys you gave me alot of information i was looking for. Looks like i will def. be picking up a set of xj springs next time i'm at the pick & pull.
