A friend tipped me off that there were a couple of HP 44's at the yard off Milican so I went down today and picked one up. There is another '77 F100 with welded wedges on the HP44 and a '79 F250 with cast perches. With the right tools it only takes about 30 minutes to pull these.
I also saw an untouched '98 XJ with the front axle still in it. White with grey interior. Front seats were a little dirty but no tears. Overall it looked pretty good. It is all the way in the back--not near the other XJ's or SUV's.
Today was 50% off on transfer cases, transmissions, torque converters and 4x4 front axles. I got my HP44 for about $125.
They said the same offer will be available tomorrow.
Good luck.
