Removing stock roof bars

I've done a search for this and looked in the manual but can't find the answer.

I've just bought a Thule roof bar system so I can put bikes on the roof but first need to remove the stock cross bars. I thought that by increasing the distance between the left and right sides the bar would just lift out but it doesn't seem to. The roof rails need to stay as the Thule bars mount to them.

Thanks guys.

Take the torx bolt out of each end cap on the rails that run lengthwise and pull the caps off. That will allow the crossbars to slide out.
