Steering box screeching

After a weeklong trip on the Dusy I noticed a horrific sound coming from my stock steering box. It kindof went away after it warmed up but is still there quite obviously. It is a very loud screeching, like a super dry hinge or of the like. I am thinking the box is dry but can't figure out why or how to lube it or anything. I have a service manual but its not helping.

Please help

the box is lubed by power steering fluid from your power steering pump... if it was dry you would have more issues.

Are you absolutely sure it's the steering box, not the PS pump? PS pumps near death tend to do that. PS pumps that are low on fluid also do that, but it's more of a death rattle than a whine or screech.

I had this issue after a weekend of wheeling. Was just low on power steering fluid, might want to check
