brake caliper mount hole in knuckle stripped

Is it ok to heli coil stripped hole in knuckle for a brake caliper mounting bolt? Or buy new knuckle.. or any other suggestions?

They can definately be helicoiled, but for an application like that, where it will be disassembled and reassembled frequently, I would prefer a repair insert like a Keensert. These are solid inserts instead of a wound wire. I have had helicoils come out on the next disassembly. The wire can stick to the bolt. A Keensert (or other brand) insert is solid hardened steel with tangs that you stake into place after threading the insert into your oversize rethreaded hole. THe other thing is that they use standard taps, which are probably cheaper than a HC tap.

X2 I have a few laying around my garage all the time. They are pretty easy to come by.

Hell brakes are over rated..JB weld the dam thing..
