ashtray power points

i want to put to cigarette-lighter style 12v plugs into the ashtray in front of my shifter. Has anyone done this before? I feel like this is obvious enough that someone has to have a decent write-up on it that i was just unable to find. looking forward to some creative responses to this one.

96 and down. I think I've seen it before somewhere, but probably a long time ago. I say go for it!

I've done some wiring in my center console, but it's '97+ style. Sorry.
