Started a new thread for the build. Going to cut the top off the XJ at the window line and install a new cage. Probably going to put on an alum top. Got a 4 person intercom system to go in and some heated PRP's. Here's a few pics of the tear down.

how much of the old cage are you retaining? whats happening to the part you cut out? :D

After spending a few hours with the tape measure I think most of the cage is coming out. I'm going to leave the old one in place and build the new one around it then cut out a peice at a time to make sure everything stays put. Probably the only thing that I'll keep is the flat plate by the front doors and the dash bar.

I'll try and cut it out so that it could be put back together with some sleeves.

Small update.....fixing the cancer. Just tek screwed it into place for fitment. I'll weld it in next week at the shop. Mocked it up with cardboard then traced it out on 16 ga steel sheet.

It should hide pretty well when I rhino liner the floor.

Also looks like next weekend is when the top is coming off.
