ok well this is my daily driver/rock crawler jeep.i have a t-18 4 speed with a granny gear outta a wagoneer would it be worth the time and money to put it in my jeep:helpme:

If you have the stock 5 speed, I think your low gear is 3.93. The low gear of the T-18 is 4.02. That's not alot lower but the T-18 is stronger. It would probably take a ton of custom work to swap it in. Good luck.

My stock 5speed is 3.09. I have a 96 though. They may have changed it. Not sure

Ohhh, yeah I was on the completely wrong page :doh:

Thanks for keeping me on my feet:lecture:

T-18 was offered in jeeps with a 6.32:1 or 4.02:1 first gear... my friend has a CJ7 with the 6.32, it is sweeeeeeet

Yep, got one in my CJ as well. Great transmission. Nice crawl in 1st gear, all but bulletproof unit. I've beaten on mine with 35"-38" tires for the last fifteen years. Change the fluid every few years and forget about it.

Are these the differential gears? Transfercase gears? What are these?

well unless you swapped engines, your 1998 has an inline 6cyl (not a V6)

and yes I would guess you will need an adapter of somekind to make it work.
Novak or Adavanced Adapters seems to be the names of choice for that type of thing.
Check out their sites, or give them a call maybe they can help.
One of the issues you may run into is mounting of the CPS.
Check out this thread and the work that guy is going through to make that tranny work for him.
