Will this ECM work???

Ok, so I'm pretty sure I've got a bad ECM...after doing some searching I see that there are some numbers on the ECM that would need to match in order for it to work in my XJ...but here's my question...is there any way to know, aside from comparing the numbers if it will work?

My XJ--99 with 4.0, Manual Trans, no ABS

Donor TJ--99 with 4.0, Manual Trans, no ABS


I'm assuming that since everything's pretty much the same it should just be a direct swap, no??

How much is the 'donor' one?

Wouldnt hurt to try it, but it *should* work.

Well, it's coming from my uncle, so pretty much next to nothing, and it is a known good one coming from the donor!

it will work. the numbers DO NOT need to match for the ecm to work. For a 99, you can use an ecm from a 97-99 jeep. It does not need to be reflashed or anything. Just plug it in. I'm using a doner ecm from another 98 on my 98, no issues.
