00 XJ Loses power while driving...

00 Xj will basically shut off as im driving down the road(guages reset, gas pedal doesnt work, brakes, power steering etc). sometimes it will come back on by itself a few seconds later, other times I have to shift to nuetral and turn the key. it has happened about 6-8 times in the past 2 weeks. any thoughts on my troubles?

Is the MIL on? Get the codes read.

No the MIL is not on, I had codes read anyway and its not throwing any. I just replaced the battery and have checked wire connections.

I would disassemble the wires and grounds, polsh them up and reasemble. More than likely, something is loose or corroded.

Almost two years ago... I had a similar occurence...
The problem was the Cam Position Sensor inside the distributor rubbing against the degree wheel...
Actually the distributor shaft bushing had worn out causing the shaft to wobble wearing out the distributor cap contacts and grounding out the CPS intermittently....
It's worth a quick look to confirm it's not the problem....
