Search here cause I think that that particular bumper has been covered already (http://www.warriorproducts.com/catal...ee-bumper.html) And IIRC the issue was that it didn't attach far enough down the frame rail (I think it only utilized the front 3 holes) to be worth considering for anything other then looks.

Yeah, that's the same info I found on their site. Good looking bumper, if it's made of some stout material, it's cheap enough as a starting point for a few modifications. Just thinking out loud-------Hans

Re: Warrior Products bumper

I think these bumpers are underestimated. Those front 3 mounting holes are capable of alot more than most people think. In personal fab work and wheeling in the family we've had two Comanches, and about 5 Cherokees. The latest comanche has been used for competitions like Team Trophy Challenge and has had a few bumpers on it, all mounted to those 3 holes and have gone thru over 4 years of unreal amounts of abuse and truck dragging with zero problems.

Yes, those 3 little tin inserts the bolts thread into, wrapped around double layer 11 guage mild steel make a great mounting system for a recovery point.

Re: Warrior Products bumper

allow me to rephrase. i said i think the bumper is underestimated, what i meant is that I think the mount points the bumper uses are underestimated. I would agree that by looking at it they don't look terribly strong, but I've seen them undergo some obscene abuse with my own tube bumpers.

For the record, the D-Ring hooks on the 561's welds directly to the 3/16" mounting plate and there is also a 3/16" backing plate behind the 11 gauge around the D-Ring. I still won't argue that for beating on and dragging crap that this bumper might not be your best choice.

Though its not really my department or place to worry about around here, I am going to talk to the higher ups about changing the mounting points on the Cherokee bumper, I've seen the tie-in plates and it seems relatively easy to change the mounting plate design of the bumper to make it extend to a couple more holes.

I have seen that whole front piece ripped off on copule jeeps cause those 3 holes (or rather all 6) aint worth a damn.
