Train horns are the best!

Guy at the shop, the other day, has a train's air horn mounted up underneath his truck bed.
The thing is unbelievably loud.
It's the kind of loud you can feel in your bones.
Gotta find me one.

Here's a video of what I'm talking about....

Re: Train horns are the best!

I got one on my rig. Never thought about taking video of the people I've scared. I am worried about the ticket for it though, I doubt I would ever have the balls to blast a cop with it.

Thumbs up Re: Train horns are the best!

A lot of us in the local 4X4 club I belong to have been running OBA setups for the last twenty years or so and some of the guys have had a variety of air horns on their rigs. One practical use is in heavily forrested trails where no cell, CB or FRS signals can get out. When one group is trying to find another the air horns come in pretty handy. Some of them sound like a freakin' train, scared the crap outta more than a few unsuspecting souls. If you've already got OBA with a tank it's pretty easy to set up, you can even use one of those cool lanyard pull cords just like the big rigs. It's also handy to quicken the steps of those A-holes in crosswalks who like to deliberatly hold up traffic.

We had a set at work. We mounted them in a box and put a switch on the bottom so they went off when the box was picked up. Most fun I've ever had in my life!

The ones in those vids are quite a bit smaller. They use five long slender horns that you can mount all seperate.

I have looked into them. The Short Bus will have some on soon
