88 xj front tire rubbing

As the title says I own an 88 xj, the front tires are rubbing the coils when I turn.
Any advice on how to fix?

Re: 88 xj front tire rubbing

First start with some control arms and maybe even DB's since your lift seems like a lot. You also need a adjustable trackbar to center your axle. It also looks like somebody "fubar'ed" your spring mounts! They don't even look like proper fitting springs!

Correct me if im wrong, but it looks like the previous owner welded a plate on the bump stop to give it a lift, is that what it looks oike to you guys?
If this is the case ill go to pullapart and get new ones to put a proper budget lift.

First two pics are found online

Agree, lose the custom lift plates.

I would assume best way is to grind off, im sure the bumpstop rod is welded on top, correct?

Looks like one rod is leaning forward, what would be the best way to get it straight again, beating it?

IIRC correctly the earlier models were threaded on. From what I can see they look to have been sleeved. Without pics of what the previous owner may have done up top being threaded may be a mute point, though.

If it were me the first thing I would go at would be getting rid of it and going back to the OEM setup.
