I am about to start buying the materials for my long arm build I was to use 1.75" 0.25 DOM with Jonny joints but I'm not sure what size joints to use. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance
I'd step up to a little larger tubing, at least some 2x.25 dom. My buddy has 1.75x.375 in his front 3 link and both lower links have bends in them. While you're gonna want at least a .25 wall thickness, larger diameter is gunna be much stronger then just larger wall thickness. I run 2.25x.375 lowers and have put them thru a lot of abuse and contact, still nice and straight.
I've been running that stuff for years.....amazing how you can drag Chromo over rocks for three years and it doesn't pit or wear.....or bend like 2x0.25 DOM does. I have been loosing faith in 0.25 DOM.....stuff is not holding up like you would expect....although a million times better than most off the shelf lift kits. uke:
My only other suggestion is to run ruff stuff 1.25" heims.....long arm lifts generally are flat to the ground and even with heims don't transmit as much road vibration as one would guess. In fact, the last guy I had we put the poly performance 3 link brackets on with the ruff stuff 1.25" joints on DOM arms and he said it rode way smoother than it was when it was stock on stock poly joints and no lift....very happy to say the least.
