The Big O Tires in Monument that Nick (my husband) used to work at had a shooting today. An employee was shot to death by an irate customer. It will be on the news tonight. The guy is in custody. They're not releasing info yet until the man's family is notified. I will do the same since this only happened a mere hour ago.

I just wanted to ask that everyone who prays says one for this man's family. He leaves behind a wife and children. This hit home for me. My husband used to work there, and he often deals with crazy people (doesn't everyone in customer service). All this guy did was wake up and go to work to make ends meet. He won't be coming home to his family ever again.

X2 prayers to the whole family..................

we'll be prayin for all involved!

Holy hell... I just talked to a couple of different people at that Big-O earlier today around 1 or 2pm...

My thoughts go out to the victim's family and friends. :(

It is truly sad when someone has to die over some damn tires......... people today are getting more and more thoughtless, careless and heartless! What really concerns me is that things are only going to get worse ..........

For those of you that "open carry" you had better understand the law or you may find yourself behind bars............

Colorado is an open carry state.

You carry Openly?

Don't you need to have your CCW?
.

Colorado allows for open carry, but the municipalities can set their own ordinances - Denver does not allow open carry.

There's alot of contention regarding the State's abilities to govern over Federal law and Constitutional law. There's quite a few open carry supporters that feel they're well within their Federal and Constitutional rights to open carry and the State/Cities can't prosecute them.

For the most part, there aren't any specifically written laws by the Cities prohibiting open carry - many strike it up to Disturbing the Peace.

Just a week ago, I was at a Burger King in Littleton and saw some 20-something goober walking around the parking lot with a Beretta pinched between his jeans and belt displayed openly. He and a friend walked in and out of the restaurant and surprisingly, I didn't see much reaction from the employees or others in line at the order counter. But the guy sure spent much of his time looking around to see if anyone was eyeing him. His friend was pretty relaxed/normal. I thought about calling the police to have him checked out....... but as I sat there, he just went about his business. He apparently was waiting for some tire work at a Discount Tire next to the B.K. and as I was leaving, a Discount employee was going over the car with the guy and the Discount guy didn't seem bothered either.

I looked into the Littleton Municipal ordinance and it appears that open carry is allowed except in public places where the business/establishment posts a sign prohibiting open carry......... Interesting.

Now that's just in Littleton, right?

Hey flores listen up!!! this is the same law in my county and in the casino's.

be prepared to chat with your LEO folks if you choose to open carry, I think Troy's off-duty reaction is probably how most LEO would feel about it, although Troy may be somewhat atypical in actually monitoring the guy's behavior before deciding whether or not to get the police involved.

I am of that opinion Troy described that "shall not be infringed" actually means what it says. That said, life is too short to spend 1/2 your time convincing people you have no malicious intent just because you have iron strapped to you leg - I don't open carry. Today.:)

I am struggling with what happened in Monument, since it is right up the street, and we patronize many of the shops in the area. I tend to think of the various people I tend to piss off in my work, and wonder which ones might be less stable than they appear. It's amazing how quickly life can change for a family.

WTF... Didnt a lady jump off baptist road bridge a few weeks ago into oncoming traffic to kill herself, now someones getting shot and killed at the Big-O.

A sign of the times.

I swear, that If we would all stop trying to XXXX eachother over all the time, and were nicer to eachother, alot of this shit wouldnt happen.
