which guards are you talking about? thor's or jcr's? i have the 97-01 jcr and it would work on a pre 97 if the light boxes were cut off.

gotcha..ya well the body line is the same minus the hatch. So, cut the boxes off and sell them to a 97-01 owner and then buy jcr's 84-96 light boxes.

Mike just massage the boxes a bit here and there with a flap disc and some bondo work, then paint em. Hell I'll help ya do it. Shouldn't be too hard.

Bolts should be the same, knowing Jeep.
And the rounded boxes on the square hatch will probably be unnoticeable by most people.

The are not even close. We use different side panels and the tail light boxes are WAY different between the two body styles.

The hatch is wider on 97-up, so the light boxes are substantially smaller. The tail lights on the 96-down still about an 1" lower then 97-up.
