Re: Got a leaf blower... added 20HP
I did that with my friends olds Alero in his driveway. It was interesting and it did rev up reaaaal fast.
Didnt restart after we tried it. We had to take out the battery to reset the car before it would start... |

Re: Got a leaf blower... added 20HP
that is dynod at the wheels. the stock hp of a 4.0 is 190 something. at the wheels i think its somewhere around 130 something. so that si is putting 170 horses to the ground while our stock jeeps are nearly 40 short

And about the XJ: What else do you expect when you have a vehicle with 4 gears and 230 ft lbs?? I am wondering what a geared stocker would be like... hmmmm

Re: Got a leaf blower... added 20HP
I am looking to pick up a stroker in the coming months (should happen within the next year I am hoping... gotta get everything else sorted out first and make sure the Jeep is in good enough shape to be worth putting money into)
I think once I am running 4.56's and a stroker I will have to borrow some 30" tires and go for a spin Hell, I think it would be quick enough with 33's ![]() Edit: The other option I have sitting in front of me is picking up an old AMC eagle.. They apparently had a 4.2L straight six which i believe is based on the same block as the XJ.. I was thinking about scrapping my Jeep and getting an eagle to swap the drive train into. That there would be a fun car ![]() ![]() . Maybe even lift it and put it on my 33's I know it's been done before.. Just a question of if I want to do it myself. It would definitely need an 8.8 rear, stroker, manual tranny (AX-15?). I don't know what it had for a transmission stock but it had an electric or pneumatic selectable transfer case... I would just run hard lines like the XJ had if the AX-15 even fit. hehe, oh man, now I am thinking of the fun I could have with that. I bet I could get that thing to scrreeeew.

On the street, the 327 would eat my 4.0 XJ for lunch, but I was never comfortable driving it aggressively on the street, so what's it matter? I guess if I want more, I'll strap a leaf blower on my roof rack for emergencies. |

Re: Got a leaf blower... added 20HP
I enjoy putting the aw4 into the "1,2" mode. Cruise around at about 35 which keeps you right in the powerband on the 4.0. Its so much fun just to hammer down the throttle and have instant thrust haha.
DISCLAIMER: This is most likely a horrible idea that puts far more wear and tear on your engine and trans. It gives you lots of passing power tho... |

With 33's and stock gearing power band was/is your friend. I never had any issues and cruised at that RPM range for a couple of years. The 4.0 likes to sit around 2500-2700 when cruising, I got great fuel economy too (I am one of hte lucky ones that gets good economy even after lifting )
