5/8 tie rod/ drag link (safe to ream out that size?)

Anything wrong with drilling Pitman arm and knuckles to 5/8ths on a d30?


thank you for any help, I don't want to mod something if Its unwise.

There's several kits that have a hardware upsize option of using 5/8" hardware. Drilled mine out with a regular bit 7 years ago for the Iron Rock kit and haven't had any problems (using CavFab's kit now which comes standard with 5/8").
 
I'm no mechanical engineer, but it seems fine as you're only losing 1/16" per side. I'd imagine something else in the linkage would fail before the knuckle does. Running 35 x 12.50 on 15 x 8 alloy rims. Here's a pic of what it looks like at 5/8" (axle already out because I'm welding in a truss and gussets this week). It's about 1.5" across, leaving 7/16" of meat on either side of the hole.
