broken rear upper shock bolts

so i started to remove the rear suspension getting ready for the 4.5 Rubicon express lift. just like every other xj my upper shock bolts snapped off in the body even after letting some PB blaster sit on them over night. just wondering what is the best way to go about fixing them. if i should drill out and go for a bigger size bolt or drill them out and use a bolt with a nut and washers right though the mount?

Use a hammer and punch to blow the nuts out, then fish some bolts in. Super easy and fast.

Rough Country makes a nice bracket so you won't have to fish new nuts up there

This is exactly what I did. There's a reasonable amount of room in there too. However the rough country brackets do make it much easier, or you could fab your own.

pretty easy to punch them out? thanks for the idea! defiantly enough room to put a bolt all the way through and cheaper than buying the bracket!

You can use the rear sway bar brackets that are on the ubolts as upper shock brackets.

using BPEs on mine

Don't use the swaybar brackets as BPEs. They are rotated the wrong way and stress the shock bushings.
