Anyone know off hand how similar/dissimilar they are? Like would sliders or stiffened possibly interchange?

xj and zj chassis

Mostly dissimilar. A ZJ gas tank skid and tow hitch will fit an XJ, just open up one bolt hole on each side of ZJ hitch/skid. Front seats interchange. Engine and axles are similar, not much else is. If you are handy with a chop saw and welder, anything is possible.
