Amount of Visible Slip Yoke

On a stock Comanche how much of the slip yoke should be sticking out of the transfer case? What is the minimum amount of yoke that needs to be visible to prevent binding? I'm swapping a D44 into my Comanche but I’m not sure if it's lifted and I'm trying to figure out if my driveshaft needs to be cut down.

On my 90' XJ I have about 5/8" left of travel with a 29 spline 8.25 and stock D-35 shaft. I tested to make sure the slip yoke would not bottom out by loading the back of the XJ with 300# of weight and hooking a loaded trailer up. With the axle sitting on the long stock bump stops it still was not bottoming out, in fact it really did not move in at all since the springs flatten out and pull the axle away from the T-case slightly making up for the lack of angle on the shaft.

Does that make sense?

Anyway here is a pick of the slip yoke at static ride height.
