Purchased a HomeLink transmitter on eBay (the kind that was originally mounted in the sun visor of a GM vehicle).
Removed the garage-door opener compartment door from the overhead console. Hacked out a hole of the appropriate size/shape.
Installed the HomeLink transmitter in the door.
Put the door back into the overhead console, and wired the transmitter to the switched 12V circuit that powers the compass. Works perfectly, and looks almost factory installed.
