Re: BUILD: My 1987 "Wagoneer" XJ Limited

I have already bought all the goodies to make mine own. Never found a ready to use one, does not exist IMHO.. spent 20-30 hours online searching. I am reusing burned out OEM style glass bulbs (Found a post online on how to do that) and installing the currently used on newer jeeps mini bulbs (not the high power ones, the stock ones) in the back side, then installing 4 cheap harnesses off of amazon (IIRC), about $12 ea, the bulbs were about $3 ea, one harness to run each bulb and then doing the connection wiring, it is not plug and play, I will swap the new plugs on the harness for the old plugs from Wagoneer. At least that is the plan. Waiting for three more bulbs to die first LOL, or a roundtoit to show it.
Edit: Here is my earlier thread on my head light harness project.

I need to replace the side trim clips and am struggling to find something suitable over here. Are the ones you have shown above what you have used to replace these?

Looks like that supplier does ship internationally, so if they are suitable replacements I can get some ordered.
Thanks in advance, regards Gareth

Trim Clips

I'm glad my build can be helpful. The clips are universal. Here are some that are listed on eBay... There may be others too:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/trim-clips-n...xYypN0&vxp=mtr

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-1-2-5-8...pRJ V&vxp=mtr

http://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-MERCURY...2I2 i&vxp=mtr

Note that there are different sizes. So measure what fits best. If you have one that is close in size... Go just a bit smaller... As they fit tight.

Good luck!

Thanks for the links.
I take it the push fit clips is NLA, so the only option is the bolt on option.

Re: BUILD: My 1987 "Wagoneer" XJ Limited

I just found some great GM roof rack jack nuts to replace the old ones that pull out from rotted rubber for .44 each delivered for my rigs, including my Wagoneer.

They also fit the mirror mounts. The supplier has a huge assortment of odd automotive fittings, so you might check and see what they have for the trim clips. I might do the same when I get aroundtoit, LOL

NOS Stuff

Fall is nearing and I hope to re-start this project soon. In the meantime... I have collected two additional NOS parts:

Re: BUILD: My 1987 "Wagoneer" XJ Limited

Ebay. The seller was asking too much for it. So I suggested a more reasonable price. He re-listed for me at a price I was willing to pay for it.

Definitely subscribing to this thread, very impressive restoration so far!
What is the correct part number for the rear license overlay for an '87? I've been hunting for one for my '87 and my research shows 55013411.

Correct part number... What condition of the Overlay are you looking for?

Doesn't have to be NOS/perfect. I need whatever attaches it to the holes in the tail gate as well. The two holes are circled in green below.

Not the one pictured... But another NOS. How do I infer without being insulting... Mine might be a bit pricey for your need. I'm thinking you might try: http://jwjeep.com/ for a previously-owned one if it's just to be used as a cover. Respectfully.

Crist, I would like to know the value of the NOS console.

Have you found more than one?
