MPG Readout?

So the Overhead Consoles tell you MPG but I don't have an OHC installed in my 97 yet. I have one but I CANNOT get it to give me any readings for the life of me. Just --- on every thing. Any way, are there any other ways to read my MPG with out an OHC?

I keep a palm sized notebook in the console just for this purpose. Probably the best, and simplest, maintenance you can do for your Jeep is to monitor fuel economy.

If that's tough or a chore, you can get a Scangauge II
