Anybody have an pics of the faulty sender type fuel pump and also a pic of its replacment. I'm curious to see if the pump sender changed. When I asked about mine several years ago it was a one piece unit and to replace the sender you had to buy the whole pump. Now I'm hearing different from several on this group so I'd kind of like it cleared up...

Dont have a picture for ya.
But I had taken my 98 Grand to the dealer
after the wife ran out of gas
(gas gauge was wrong by about 1/4 of a tank)
any way the dealer told me back in 2001 that they wouldn't
do anything for me cause it was out of warranty
and there wasn't a recall. Fine I bit the bullet and
replaced just the sending unit - all was well until
I read the warranty booklet the other day that came with the grand.
It states specifically that the fuel and sending unit are
warranted for 7 years or 70,000 miles.
Might be worth checking your warranty book...

i will say it again, you CAN get the float separately for the fuel pump for the 98's. the recall was for the 97 for the jeeps running out of gas while reading 1/4 tank. the 98's have the same setup but dont have the same symptoms so there is no recall.
