Question about Alternator fusible link

'91 xj, 4.0L motor

75 amp Denso alternator (Jeep PN: 56005684)

I'm thinking of 40-50 amps to my alternator with this part: https://alternatorstarterrebuildkits.com/product/denso-small-frame-high-amp-upgrade/

My question is this: Will this amp upgrade blow out the fusible link on the charging cable? Essentially, I'd be putting a 115-125 amp alternator on the cable, to replace a 75 amp alt.

you should just go ahead and buy an inline fuse kit, then if you go to 136a alternator you can buy a 150a fuse when the time comes

Agreed. Upgrade the cables and add a fuse. It's super simple and easy to do, well worth the time to get the most out of a higher amp alt.

I must be getting really old or something.

It turns out i've already bought the #2 welders cable and the 150 amp fuse kit. I did a ton of research on this 5 years ago and posted a lot of info to answer other people's questions about alternator rebuilds and upgrades.

How could I have forgotten that? :smoker:
