Looking for suggestions on hood vents/louvers other than the lebaron. I kind of like the American Rock Rod ones.

Just wanted to check with you guys, seems like someone here always finds really cool stuff that gives me buyers removers, when I bought some flares a few weeks later someone posted showing off a product from a company I had not yet run across.

buyers remorse.....lol....sorry, I just got a chuckle when I read it

No suggestions for ya, but I do have a set (pans & all) from Lumina Z34 that I plan on putting on mine when I finally start tearing into it later this year (rubicon axles, lift w/probably coil rear, V8 engine/trans, etc.)

I went with the Lebaron vents on mine years ago, but we had 5 sets or so of the Napier vents at the Crawl (and Doug Napier was there, too) and I really liked them. Napier is also a NAXJA sponsor.

ive never heard of any proof that hood vents really make any difference at the gauge.

PROOF. Functional hood vents reduce engine temperatures slightly and reduce the length of time the e-fan runs. They are not a solution for a neglected or poorly maintained cooling system, but they are a worthwhile modification.

They're great for helping the rough start condition on late models during hot restarts

theres datsun 280z vent work nice too, its what is currently what is on my xj but i am switching to the napier vents to reduce the amount of water entering the engine bay since theres more important stuff on top of the ls motor

I'm using these on my XJ -- http://www.ruggedridge.com/performance-hood-vents-black-07-15-jeep-wrangler-jk-17759-09.html. The hood line was not exactly correct so I added some additional screws to snug it down, looks good now. Fully functional. Haven't had any problems with rain.

I went a more traditional route. '98 Grand Cherokee 5.9 louvers. She is just a DD and I need to get some surface rust issues on the hood and roof dealt with so I figured while we are there. They have drip trays but the ends needed to be trimmed to fit under the hood. Apparently I can't post an attachment. Or to stupid to figure it out. So this is not my Jeep but you get the idea. These are the threads I used for the install.

b16gsr at the last link was nice enough to send me the template that he made from the pictures from USN_BlackWK links. If you can find some of these louvers and go this route I will be more then happy to send you the template. PM me. Only thing I ask is that you pass it on when done.

Forgot did post some pictures online. See post #84139.

One of my long- tern goals is to buy and install a set of the Napier vents. I've seen plenty of other vents that look better aesthetically, imo, but I don't want rain water dripping on my engine and the Napiers address this issue.

I bought a set of the XJ louvers from a place called rod louvers.

Aluminum 6061 i think. I like them and they are very large. Gets a lot of heat out of the engine bay, at slow speed. Even with the mech fan, and e fan trail riding there just is not enough place for the hot air to get out.

Mine with 100% new cooling system still got warm on the trail until i installed these. Heat can escape and no issues since. And i have never any issue with water getting in. Idk how that is happening on other style vents

I got a set of rear vents from a Pontiac ferio. They are a little big but I think they will work. I haven't got around to doing it yet but it's just a thought.
