I have a D44 from a 75 J10. It has 3.54 gears now. I want to go to 5.38s.

Will I have to change the carrier ?

Carrier break is at 3.92. You need one for 3.92 and numerically higher gears.

Do you want an open carrier a locker of some sort?
Rawbrown in the preivous post would be a good source.Or Randy,s R&P is where I got mine ,a little over $5oo for a detroit.
