I have a trans-filter housing, opting for this as a means to plumb in the trans-temp gauge sender unit....and, am wondering if anyone can advise, with technical and empirical certainly, if a standard oil filter (such as a Wix 51515 or K&N HP-3001) is suitable for coolant filtration...

Thanks much.

i don't believe so, but i can't remember exactly why now, something about the media type. however, wix does make a specific screw on coolant filter for hd diesel trucks and such. it's listed in the back of any wix filter book. try your local carquest maybe?

I was, rather obviously, thinking of two things at the same time when making this post....

My question is re suitability of oil filters for trans fluid filtration!
