It isn't terrible but it could be better, I'm just use tinny TJ that will burn you out! It's the same temp as if you were to set MTV TJ temp adjuster 3/4 of the way.
Flushing the cooling system is part of cooling system maintenance and should be done in addition to just draining the coolant and filling it back up. Flushing the heater core is part of that.
Save the coolant you have in there now. Get your self a Prestone Flush Kit and follow the instructions.
Thermostat too. If its stuck open the engine will never come up to full temperature. Especially noticeable in the winter.
You flush the heater core by disconnecting the two hoses leading into it and using a hose to run water through it. Water in one and it will come out the other. If its cold out run the engine after doing this to get coolant back in there so it doesn't freeze.
Flushing the heater core will likely be good enough. Remove both heater hoses from the tubes on the front of the engine, and run the garden hose on full blast into each one several times.
