Tires of my 242, parts are extremely hard to find around my area, what years will a 231 fit from? They seem to be very abundant here.Thanks!

The 21 spline input gear on your original 242 should allow you to use just about any 231 in your 89.

I'm going to have to buy a sye for the 231, Will I have to lengthen /shorten my driveshaft?? Its a front shaft out of a auto xj thats re-tubed to be a little longer.Thanks!

Nevermind, They are the same, and I can just swap my sye from my 242 to my 231, answered my own question with a little search (amazing how it works)

same sye for both 231 and 242. I called my local guy to order up a 231 sye and he said you bought one already,so I checked the re website and bingo
