Replacing battery cables - which is bigger?

I plan on replacing my battery/alternator/headlight cables soon. I keep reading about 2/0 and 1/0 cable...which one is bigger? Also if I go into a welding place to ask for it...how am I suppost to say that?

wire sizes

The wire sizing goes like this...8, 6, 4, 2, 0, 1/0, 2/0 etc getting bigger from left to right. After 0 it is pronounced 1-"ot" 2"ot" etc.. Now keep in mind this is all in "Okie" so translate as necessary.

Thanks...can anybody tell me aproximately how much cable I will need to replace all the battery/alternator cables?

NY translation

1/0= one "ought"
2/0=two "ought" etc etc


now they'll know whatcher sayin!
