Can you fit a 31x10.50x15 in the back. I have to get the tire mounted then I will try but for now maybe some one can help.

As long as you don't have a speaker bar in the ceiling.

Then maybe if the Spare is deflated.

Nope. It won't fit. I have the exactly same tire and tried fitting it where my old spare was. I must have worked it for 20 minutes before I gave up. Now, it's just sitting in back.

I even removed that stamped metal thing that holds the tire up and it still wouldn't sit right the way I want it. I have not decided if I'm going to fit a cable in there to hold it up to the drivers side or what.:dunno:

Had the same problem. I finally found a guy on this board that had a OEM rear tire carrier, and modified it to work for my 31.

I have a 31 BFG AT with about 80% tread and 25psi in the stock location in my 88.

I had to pop the drivers side of the rear seat out of the latch at top, and get a new hold-down because the stock one was too short.

Anything bigger, maybe even a new tire, and the hatch would not close.

Yes it will fit. Takes a little work...i.e. you have remove the little "stand" from the floor. It will rub the speaker bar if you have one and be a tight squeeze but it will fit. Search for 'spare tire mount(ing)'. There are some threads with pictures on the site that will show you how to do it.

31x10.5x15, less than 100 miles on the tire, fully inflated. Seat is latched.

It completely depends on the tire you are trying to fit. This one does. Would a swamper? Probably not.

31" Uniroyal with 80% tread in the stock location with a speaker bar, but I late replaced it with a BFG AT:

You can see the BFG in the background:

The hatch shut with the 31

I have a 31x10.5 MTR with 95% tread in the stock spot on my 01. I have the speakers and removed the bracket. It sits with a lengthened tiedown shaft and the seat is latched tight.

Mine's in teh stock location, deflated, forget the type but its fairly worn, bought a used "limp home" tire. It was a pain to get in there.

It'll fit,
I dont have much problem with my 31" ProComp MT spare in the stock location.
Removed the stand, and the drivers side back seat latch doesnt latch by about a half inch, hardly noticable sitting in the seat.

All you have to do is take a few whacks with a hammer on the wheel well and the 31 fits with about an inch between the speaker and the top of the tire perfect. Thanks for all the help.

??? Huh ??? You guys having that much problem putting in a 31 in the exact factory location??? Im running a 31" BFG m/t full pressure on the bracket and bolted to the factory location. No straps, no hammer smashing, and seats up. Fits between my speaker box and the side of the truck perfectly. Looks as if it is too close to the rear hatch opening and door wont close, when the hatch is open, but its not. Closes just fine. Sits 1/2in from the rear window. Now a swamper or a bogger might be a little bigger but im guessing i could prolly fit a 33in in the same location with minor mods

PornsatR: That's weird' I have a BFG 30 x 9.50 in the stock spot. It touches the speaker bar and back seat. Clears the hatch by about 1.5 in

By the looks of it, if you remove the little metal "stand" and pass the bolt through the centre bore, rather than one of the bolt holes it should fit with little issue.

I'm about to give this a try myself (mind you, i only have 235/75-15s right now) and will update when i complete the mod.

This guy made it look easy! What's wrong with the rest of you?

...Once I get my 31's I'm sure I'll come back to this thread and wonder how he made it look so easy...
