Pinion Seal Job - RTV On Yoke Splines?

Title pretty much says it all. I have a Dana 30 and I'm about to replace the pinion seal. Apart from buying the wrong seal 2x, it seems straightforward.

However, this job seems identical to replacing my SYE output seal, and that called for a rubber crush washer and RTV inside the yoke. Is this similar? Do you put RTV in the yoke splines to keep oil from leaking through there? Every YouTube video I've found doesn't do this but I can't see how that wouldn't leak.

It's a nice touch but not required to keep the splines from wicking gear oil out. I don't use RTV on the axle splines & don't have any problems with oil wicking out. Gear oil is a lot heavier than ATF.

Ive done the job a couple times already, no oil leaking problems that would warrant sealant on the splines.

Usually when I do this job, I put silicone on the nut or washer (or anaerobic sealer). I have had instances of oil leaking thru the splines.
