Piston slap?

21 minutes...............jeeeesh

What is the point of your post? Dated 2016?

Did you do an in frame?

Big mistake and there is simply no point in it.

You'll be doing it again.

Certainly sounds like rod knock, best to use some form of "stethoscope" to further define it!

Loose, and leaking exhaust system, that exhaust part near and or attached to the exhaust pipe and the transmission mount is rattling at the frame?????

And or cracked flex plate, but I think it is just the exhaust. Missing bolt??? Bent exhaust pipe?

Check the entire exhaust!!!!

I agree it is not piston slap in my opinion. Sounds like a loose metal part rattling at idle, that goes away when the engine moves and torques as you give it gas.

Certainly sounds like rod knock, best to use some form of "stethoscope" to further define it!

While I hope for responses to my ignition post, I have a fairly common sound coming from the 4.0 in my xj.

Here is a video I shot yesterday analyzing the sound of the problem.

Don't know how that happened

I 2nd the flex plate or torque converter bolts. it was making the noise while cranking. also for the love of all that is good. flush that poor cooling system!
