using a np242 rear ds with a sye on a np231

I have a 1990 Laredo with a np231. I want to put on a sye hack and tap and use a driveshaft I have that came from a np242. It has u-joints on both ends and a slip in the middle. I know I need to get a cv driveshaft but until I get cash I'm hoping this will work on a 4.5 inch lift. Anybody know?

Can I have the 242 that this shaft came from? Mine is the same as a 231, with the slip joint at the t-case. Are you sure you don't have the front shaft from something?

it's not from a 242

it's from a 228/229 (84-86 selec-trac XJ)

the shaft will probably too short for your application.

From what I'm reading here you'll end up with a situation similar to this:

U-joints don't mate up with SYE flanges very well.
