We missed you Skipper !

Thanks I missed you guys too. Still nursing this replaced patella tendon in my right leg. Butt like an extended offseason, I'm thinking of things that I can do to the Jeep during this downtime

The trip started out with losing a trailer tire coming up Hwy 50. Luckily it happened right before a turnout and the tread didn’t hit any other vehicles. Quickly swapped on the spare and was on my way. Even though the tires are only a couple years old, I ended up buying 4 new at South Lake Tahoe after the Rubicon trip.

Ryan’s rig. Don’t let the 33’s fool you, he easily makes up for the smaller tires with driving skill.

Jeep was out there field testing their future Rubicon model on….the Rubicon. They were all camouflaged out with covers/bras hiding the details. Even the door handles and interior dash had covers over therm. When stopped, they never left the vehicles unattended and had a person (guard) standing by each one at all times.

Awesome pics, wish I coulda met up with you guys on the Rubicon portion of the trip.
Love the camouflage pics, reminds me when I was up there for the original Rubicon and H3 tests back in the early 2000s.

Several broken rigs on the trail...this one with a broken trackbar bracket at the frame.

Ran across the Camo Jeeps again due to the broken rig blocking the trail.

With Tim’s encouragement, Alan getting head deep and putting his Ready Welder to work on a Polaris with a broken tie rod at Buck Island. Polaris didn’t get very far after the fix and the guy and his g-friend ended up hiking back out to Loon.

At the same time, Ryan was busy fixing a broken center pin on his leafs. After getting ¾ of the way done with the left side, he realized the right side was also broken. Lou scrounged up a couple of grade 8 bolts and luckily Ryan had a big enough wrench to get the job done!

Here’s the big ass wrench...for reference, my shoe size in the pic is 11½.

We ended up camping at the far end of Rubicon Springs, the section where you have to make a water crossing to get to it.

We didn’t get very far up Cadillac until we ran into this guy from Oregon with broken front and rear axles. He was with his kid and another rig and ended up winching up most of the hill.
