Fair price for 2001 XJ, parts car?

Someone I know has a 2001 XJ, all original, in other words no upgrades.
It has had a totaled title and has been re-registerd and rebuilt, no details.

It has been driven without problems until last year when tranny need rebuilt.

Now his daughter drove the Jeep with almost no oil and the engine sounds funny.
I haven't seen it but the owner seems to think the engine is gone.

Also, she crashed the front a little so the front bumper grill, etc. is not worth using for parts.

What is a "fair" price to pay for this XJ?

I'd offer him $300, maybe even a bit less and go from there. Chances are he's not gonna get much more than that at the yard.

As suggested, pretty much scrap value. My wrecked 1998 cost me $600 to buy and $600 to fix, and I have driven it trouble free for almost 100,000 miles.
