Since it's a federal law that covers all 50 states, he's going to have to drive in international waters to not have an emissions equipment requirement.

Just because it's not inspected does not mean it's not required.

Your jeep will live a happier life with the right parts and no exhaust leaks.

as far as I can see, these are the only requirements federally speaking. The means by which you achieve these standards is another matter. I searched for the requirement of a catalyst but couldn't find anything. That being said... Get a cat lol. The restriction a cat puts on a system does help the torque curve haha

The Clean Air Act is still federal law. There are tier 1 and tier 2 standards, which I have no idea how to interpret, but this policy letter is pretty clear on catalytic converter removal.

All of that legislation is part of the Clean Air Act. You can hunt for the specifics, but we all know that the removal of any factory installed emissions device is illegal. Whether or not you get caught doesn't make it right.

Hey Sullie, regardless of what anyone says, including Bill Nye the Science guy and Deputy Tree Hugger (above), just enjoy your Jeep.....that is the main thing we all want!

I enjoy my Jeep. I enjoy being outdoors. I enjoy getting together with other off-roaders for trail rides. If someone's rancid exhaust is causing a burning sensation in my nose and throat, making my eyes water, I'm not having a good time.

If you enjoy huffing a rancid exhaust, far be it from me to infringe on your enjoyment. If you come on a trail ride with me, we'll let you have tail gunner. You can enjoy everyone else's exhaust as well.
 
We'll have to agree to disagree. As I said, there are limits in both directions, but I've seen way too many dyno sheets (and at the risk of being called Bill Nye again) and understand the science well enough to believe otherwise.

I LOL'd at tree hugger.

My Pops grew up on a working farm, pretty down to earth guy. One time I went to visit he told me about catching some vermin in a live catch trap. Instead of taking it swimming, he put an exhaust hose on his early '90s truck, put a tarp over the trap and stuck the other end of the hose under the tarp. He started the truck, let it idle, and puttered around for about twenty minutes waiting for the noise under the tarp to stop. He decided he was wasting fuel so he put the exhaust hose on the ol' Super A. The noise stopped in about five minutes.

By that logic, the EPA should attend automotive racing event and start handing out fines. Because I see Camaros on race gas and open headers regularly. Plus pretty soon it won't matter.... Trump's deal
