Going to jump right into the meat of this one... Started documenting elsewhere but I kind of like NAXJA better.

This is my 4th Jeep and 2nd Comanche. I expect this build to be somewhat slow but extremely extensive. This is going to be a weird performance oriented truck.

Specs:
1990 Comanche Eliminator
All factory skids
AX-15
4x4
3.07s and open D35 rear
235/75/15s on TJ wheels

In progress projects:
GM 2.0L Turbo LHU engine swap
WJ Brake booster
WJ Knuckles and Front Brakes
WJ Steering (UTK shortened factory tie rods)
2wd swap
Rust repair

Minor Plans:
Vinyl flooring in cab
Paint Job
New window seals
Fix rear bumper and tailgate (minor fender bender)

Major Plans:
Ford 8.8 LSD with discs out back (Gearing TBD)

End goal is a fun street truck with 10:1 Weight to Power ratio.

Interior gutted. Floorboards need replacement. Had to cut small clearance in firewall for new engine. Also mice destroyed my carpet and some other stuff.

Interesting build

What made you decide on the turbo 2.0?

I am an automotive engineer and I run this specific (LHU) at work. The engine is stout as hell and capable of making gobs of power and torque on relatively stock components with a tune. Also it bolts to an AX-15 with a saturn sky bellhousing.

Interesting. Where are you located? If close enough, and your AX15 is solid I'll trade you a 2wd AX15 for it?

Cleaned the engine bay to prep for paint. Might get to that this weekend.

Need to clean up some rust near the master cylinder first.

And look at those ugly welds with an overpowered mig and .035 wire...

Cleaned up the rust below the clutch slave on the outside.

Smoothed out the firewall around the patch.

Welded in the engine mounts.

Quick update:

ATAKI and I swapped transmissions and front axles so I now have the 2wd stuff.

I had a custom pilot bushing made to mate the now larger input pilot (3/4") to the crank (7/8") and installed it already. Changed the rear main while I was in there. Installed the flywheel and went to check to see if my part# ACT 3000801 disc fit on the input shaft like I thought it would... Nope, wrong spline size. Contacted ACT and they are making a custom disc for me. Once I get the new disc in I can slap the transmission on the engine and set it in place. I would say I am about 2 weeks out from that right now.
