Unhappy owl tires

I just bought a set of goodyear,s new wrangler mt/kevlar 33x12.5 tires and not happy that after the fact I found out that they only come with outline white letters. The tires are great but what can I do to lose the white letters? the tires are designed to only mount one way so turning the white walls in is not a choise. Any ideas this sucks.

that is not true at all. I work at discount tire and have mounted quite a few sets on with the black out. thats how I will be running my set too.

Unhappy Re: owl tires

Read the side wall, and talk to anybody that has ran them and they will tell you to mount then with the two rolls of the blocks out. I was at the Ontario show and talked to the Goodyear reps and that is what they told me plus every 4x4 they had were mounted the same way, the problem is that 35's are black and 33's are the last size that are owl.

Re: owl tires

"The tread does look directional, but we've been assured that the tire will provide the same traction and performance either way it's mounted."

Bottom of the second paragraph.

Re: owl tires

Just mount them the way you want them....You'll never be able to tell the difference.

Re: owl tires

Think about this, if they were directional, they would have designated "driver's side" and "passenger's side" tires. If one tire is mounted on the passenger side and the other on the driver's side then, one of them would be turning the "wrong" direction.--------Hans

Re: owl tires

I believe he meant directional as meaning that the design is for the blocks to be mounted on the outside edge of the tire and not the inside.

These guys *(Goodyear engineers) know what they are doing.
Well, all but that lame side wall design on prior MTR's, that and the
Daytona models, and that 'twin tire' design they got sued over, and there
was that one tire that.......oh....nevermind.

Re: owl tires

I know what directional is, the tread design is different inside than outside by design on these tires, I realize that I can mount them differently. but all I asked was is there a way to black out the letters. A marks-a-lot is not the answer.

I'm not sure how deep the white rubber goes on your lettering.
I wonder if you could shave off the white lettering without damaging
the tire....
Better not, that would void any warranty.
Hmmm......paint?
