Jazz cell use?

for those in the know, can this fuel cell be adapted for use in our rig?
obviously mods could be made to "make" it work,
but I am wondering if could be as simple as removing the d-handle configuration and installing something along the lines of our fuel pump?

I have the chance to get one, slightly used, very cheap, but it's no good if I can't make it work... without too much work.

thanks

your XJ is?
IO have a fuel cell plumbed into the stock fuel system on my MJ, no problems, Used an aeromotive external pump that matched factory 4.0 pump flow and pressure.

sorry, my XJ is a '97 (mods in my sig)
I hadn't thought of going with external pump, hmm... interesting.
thanks

dang, missed the edit time.

87manche, do you have a part# for the pump you used?
I will continue searching, but if handy I'd appreciate it.

The problem with Jaz cells is that their foam doesn't like pump gas. The additives break down the foam and it gets into the fuel system and clogs everything. After the problems that us and a bunch of other JS teams have had with Jaz cells, I'd never run one on the street.

If you *must* run one, they do make one that fits in the stock location on a XJ.

I used an Aeromotive 11109 pump.

RCI 2161A 15 Gallon fuel cell with the GM sender (works for renix, chryco is backwards I think, figure out your guage requirements before you order the cell if you want your fuel gauge to work.)

Some random AN to barbed fittings to adapt to my stock metal fuel lines:

do you have areturn line or a regulator? I have no idea what your 97 has, this all worked just fine on a renix jeep.

this is by no means a "must" more of a "if it works, why not" granted I could remove the foam and replace it with other.

ah, Renix, ok well some more for me to look into.

thanks for pointing me in the direction tho. just means more reading is all.

I am OBD-II Jep illiterate, so you'd be best to do some research. would totally go with an external inline pump rathre than a cell mounted option. It will be cheaper, and easier to maintenance in the long run if it dies. Just make sure to put a filter in front of it, the fuel cell pickups won't have any sort of strainer or anything.

is there any other fuel cell you would recomend for using with pump gas?

RCI aluminum. mine has been great. Nothing on the inside.
the one I linked is probably too wide for an XJ.

Well im gonna be racing with the fuel cell so foam is a must have...just wondering if there's another fuel cell with foam that holds up a little better to pump gas
