hjeepxj's build thread

Looking good!

Do you have any more pictures of those LED headlights, in action?

Would like to get a little bit better idea on them before sourcing a carton :D

I assume you saw the low and high beam pics I posted on Facebook, correct?

I can get more pics in a day or two however.

And thank you!!

What's your FB profile? I didn't see the pics there...

The low beam is a little blurry, next time I'm out at night I'll try to get some more pics.

Wow. Can the stock head lights just be switched out with these or does the wiring need to be upgraded as well?
New to the forum. Just bought a 2001 XJ.
Also, where did you get the mounting hardware for the flashlight and axe?
Thanks!

Any time buddy! Welcome to the forum! Honored to be your first post. :D

The lights are 100% bolt in. No harness upgrades needed.

Both mounts came from Amazon:

A pic that would be very helpful to show off the headlights would be facing a wall in a parking lot or a flat building... this really helps to show off the Spread/Cut-off/How Wide the lights are. They look good on your pics but they also look just like my Cibie E-Codes... I'd guess your LED headlights have better cut-off and spread but it's hard to tell against the trees and side of the road. At least that's my opinion... and you don't have to take pics just for me. :)

Oh, and thanks for the link to the XJ LED package lights for the interior. I may just have to do this little upgrade now.

I do not mind taking pictures of the thing at all, I'll try to get some asap.

:D

I like that front bumper

Me too. :) It's an arm and half a leg, but I don't plan on getting rid of this XJ ever so it's getting built the way I want it. :D

Two nights ago we drove 1 1/2 hours in blizzard single digit conditions at no more than 30-40 MPH (very poor conditions) and there was NO freezing up on the High Beam Offroad headlights. Last night we drove 1 hour at 30-70 MPH in single digit conditions with only existing precipitation, when we got home there was only a slight "icy" film over the headlights, totally normal.

The pics suck, they are the high beams.

Couple quick updates - got the rear JCR bumper installed and the A-pillar lights installed.

I hit a snag on the rear bumper tire carrier as the spindle is stuck all the way to the bottom (thus not letting me put the bolt that holds the spindle in in). I'll just remove the rear bumper, turn it upside down, lube the !^$% out of it and hit it out with a wide chisel...

January 28th we're doing a NAXJA CO tech day and we'll be doing the following to my axles:

Dana 30:

Remove the stock bracketry, install Stinkyfab track bar brackets, sway bar brackets, WJ knuckle spacers. Install Hooligan LCA mounts, artec truss, artec inner C gussets and UCA mount.

Dana 44:

Remove spring pads and shock mounts. Install TNT ubolt eliminator and shock mounts. Install Iron Rock truss.

I AM PUMPED. After that they'll get powder coated then the 4.88's and the ARB's installed and assembled!! Goal for complete assembly of axles is end of March.

Rear tire carrier - axle stuff - good front shot (prior to A pillar pods)

Just pulled the trigger on the following:

4" Deaver Leafs
1" JKS Shackle
5.5" Deaver coils
(I am doing the TNT ubolt eliminator kit in the rear netting 5.5" lift f/r)
JKS quicker discos and bar pin eliminators
Bilstein 5100 shocks
Wilwood D44 big caliper/drilled/slotted rotors
Iron Rock D44 Truss
Iron Rock Hack-n-Tap SYE
Iron Rock drop pitman arm
D30 Tube seals and sleeves
Rough Country Apillar light mounts

VERY soon I will order the longarms and the winch.
I forgot how much lift you had targeted...

UPDATE!

Got the 44 fab work 100% done, it's painted with Top Secret Coatings satin black paint - this paint is badas$. The axle is currently getting its ring and pinion and ARB installed. I need to have some machine work done to the brake kit and I should be able to assemble mid May.

Memorial day weekend is when the build will really get going - I have a spreadsheet of everything that needs to be done and it's a lot

Pictures are up loading weird so you have to click on them
