Tucking the winch

Since I started pulling the teardrop I've been Ok with a new coolant system but I'm wanting to go out west again next summer and I'd really like to use the air conditioning. So I need to get the winch out from in front of grill and install a tranny cooler.

Nice! TwoDoorRob made his and my bumpers out of a custom 3/16 C channel. Mine is aboit 3/4" in front of the header panel, his is flush

Looks good. I chose 1/4" steel. If you don't like where you engagement handle is on the drum you might be able to clock it. Mine stays nice and tucked away out of harm. Probable sticks out in front of the grill 1"-2"

I didn't go that route because I'm old and fat and didn't want to crawl under the jeep, to engage and freespool the winch.....LOL It's coming along....

Reaching the spool lever isn’t any harder than reaching the hood latch in this case. Keep it up though. It took me a week or two of work to get it finished.

I like the way you used the tube there, using it as a base for your shape.

I got the stinger on and the center notched and boxed for better winch access... Getting ready to pull it off for final welding......Hoot Hoot....

Finished it up and got it on, 19 bolts holding it on.... Now it's time to start on the long arms.

It all turn out lovely,...great lines, soft curves, non protruding, (park bench looking),..it certainly enhances the already great profile of the XJ.

Where are the relays?

The relay's will go were the coolant overflow jug is. I need to relocate it and build a mount.
Then hardwire the winch control inside to the switch panel.

I really like that. I may need to steal the idea when I get around to building my bumper
